The Self- tar Vision

چکیده
Achieving various selfproperties has been a grand challenge of computer science and engineering since the building of the first computer. The latest reincarnation of this challenge is due to the fact that large, complex and dynamic information systems have suddenly become a key part of the infrastructure of modern societies. Accordingly, it has become very important to be able to build, manage, and exploit these systems in the most efficient way possible. In other words, these systems have to become self. We are now in the process of finding out how to deal with this challenge. It is a complex problem because information systems are deployed over a very wide range of environments from wireless sensor networks to powerful supercomputing clusters, from home networks to the entire Internet. It is very likely that to meet this challenge, we need to draw ideas from many disciplines that have been dealing with the design or explanation of large and/or complex systems, such as the space shuttle, an operating system, the Internet, human intelligence, an ecosystem, evolution, living organisms, etc. The goal of this book is to explore the widest possible range of ideas and approaches that can potentially be relevant in understanding how to build selfinformation systems. We invited experts from different disciplines and asked them the same questions:

Effects of Modified Pyrolysis Tar on Gas Desulphurization Performance
The paper introducedeffects of modified pyrolysis tar on flue gas desulfurization. This experiment selected the pyrolysis tar as the raw material, researched the effects on desulfurization performance under different modification solution, concentration, solid liquid ratio of pyrolysis tar and modified solution, calcination temperature and calcination time by 16 group orth...
متن کاملThe Viability of Oil Extraction from Trinidad Tar Sands by Radio Frequency Heating: A Simulation Approach
Trinidad has tar sand resources of about 2 billion barrels of oil on land in the Parrylands/Guapo and Brighton areas. With an oil price of over USD 25 per barrel, the commercial extraction of oil from Trinidad tar sands is viable, but it requires a careful study. The relatively small extent of this tar sand (about 10,000 acres and with depths varying from surface to less than 500 feet) and with...
متن کاملEffect of Self-management Educational Program on Vision-related Quality of Life among Elderly with Visual Impairment
Background: Visual impairment is one of the independent risk factors for falling among the elderly. Functional disabilities caused by vision disorders are the most common problems affecting the quality of life in this population. Therefore, vision self-management program (VSM) may be helpful for patients in reducing impairment and improving the quality of life. Aim: The present study aimed to i...
متن کاملVisualizing tertiary folding of RNA and RNA-protein interactions by a tethered iron chelate: analysis ofHIV-1 Tat-TAR complex.
Replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) requires specific interactions of Tat protein with the trans -activation responsive region (TAR) RNA, a 59 base stem-loop structure located at the 5'-end of all HIV transcripts. We have used an intramolecular RNA self-cleaving strategy to determine the folding of TAR RNA and its interactions with a Tat peptide. We incor-porated an EDTA ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Erosion on Corrosion Protection Properties of Coal Tar Epoxy Coating
In this work, the effect of erosion on corrosion behavior of coal tar epoxy coating was evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The surface morphology of the coating was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM) after 10, 20, 30, 45 and 60 min of erosion process at an impact angle of 90º. After 10 min of erosion process, the Nyquist plots showed just a si...
متن کاملCompetitive Spectrophotometric Study of Copper, Zinc and Cadmium With 18C6 Using TAR as a Colorimetric Complexing Agent in Methanol
A Competitive spectrophotometric method has been used for the study of complexation between Cu2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ (M) and 18-crown-6(18C6, B) in methanol using 4-(2-thiazolylazo) resorcinol (TAR, HL) as the colorimetric complexant. Absorption spectra of the species in the M-TAR-18 C6 system at a various concentrations of 18C6 showed no formation of ternary com...
